The locomotives came from two builders: fifty from Henschel & Sohn of Kassel, Germany, ordered in 1922, and later twenty-five from Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia. The Belgian coaches and freight wagons arrived in the same period. The first train reached Esquel on 25 May 1945.
