Parque Pleistocénico de Osorno

The Pleistocene Park features life-size replicas of prehistoric animals including gomphotheriums, saber-toothed cats, South American horses, and mylodons in natural settings.

The park establishment followed the discovery of fossil remains at Pilauco Bajo archaeological site in 2007, leading to scientific research by Austral University of Chile.

The on-site Pleistocene Museum displays paleontological findings, including a 15,600-year-old footprint and lithic tools that represent regional prehistoric life.

The park combines educational exhibits with recreational facilities such as swimming pools, an ice skating rink, and outdoor activity areas for visitors.

Sculptor Pablo Jofré created precise animal replicas under scientific guidance, placing them in reconstructed habitats with marshlands and vegetation from their era.
