Playa de Media Luna

Playa de Media Luna is a crescent-shaped beach along Peru's Pacific coast with golden sand backed by distinctive rocky cliffs. The shoreline curves naturally and features rock formations that frame both sides of the sandy beach.

The bay has been occupied since pre-Columbian times when coastal peoples gathered seafood and conducted ceremonies here. Its natural shape and resources made it a consistent meeting place for generations of communities.

The crescent bay remains a working fishing community where locals depend on the sea for their livelihood. Visitors can observe how daily life here is built around the patterns of tides and the constant presence of small fishing boats.

The beach is roughly 45 minutes from central Ica by car, with parking available near the entrance. Access is straightforward and the area is easy to explore once you arrive.

The crescent shape of the bay is created by rock formations that provide natural shelter from strong ocean currents. This geographical feature creates calmer waters suitable for swimming compared to other stretches of coast.
