Llaqtapata, Archaeological site in Peru
Llaqtapata is a set of ancient ruins in the Cusco region of Peru, notable for its Incan architecture.
It was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham III in 1912 during his search for other locations such as Machu Picchu.
Llaqtapata may have been used for ceremonial functions and as an astronomical observatory by the Incas.
It is part of the popular trekking route known as the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Llaqtapata aligns with several astrological events important to the ancient Incan civilization.
