Gold Museum of Peru and Weapons of the World

The Gold Museum of Peru and Weapons of the World in Santiago de Surco displays more than eight thousand pre-Columbian gold objects alongside twenty thousand weapons from different historical periods and regions worldwide. The collection ranges from delicate ornaments to extensive weaponry spanning multiple continents.

A private collector founded this place in 1968 to house his acquired treasures from ancient Peru and international weapons under one roof. The institution documents the development of metalwork and warfare technology across centuries.

The collection features ceremonial knives, funeral masks, and ritual vessels that reflect the craftsmanship of ancient Peruvian cultures. These objects reveal how people once honored their dead and connected with the sacred.

Visitors should plan several hours to explore both major exhibition sections, as the collection is extensive and detailed. The museum is located in a quiet residential neighborhood with parking available and is accessible by public transportation.

The building entrance resembles a bank vault door with heavy security mechanisms to control access to the valuable collection. This unusual architectural feature reflects just how precious the objects inside truly are.
