Yacurí National Park, National park in Loja and Zamora Chinchipe provinces, Ecuador.
The protected area encompasses 73,300 hectares of diverse ecosystems, including cloud forests, moorlands, and 46 high-altitude lakes between 2,400 and 3,600 meters elevation.
The park received national park status in 2009 through local farmers' initiatives to protect water sources for the Catamayo-Chira and Chinchipe-Mayo river basins.
Traditional healers frequent Laguna Negra, located within an extinct volcano caldera, to utilize its waters for medicinal practices and treatments.
Visitors can reach the park through Amaluza city, followed by a 30-kilometer unpaved road journey to the Jimbura entrance checkpoint.
The park contains 280 plant species, including 32 endemic varieties, plus endangered mammals such as mountain tapirs and spectacled bears in their natural habitat.
