Airo Pai Communal Reserve

The Airo Pai Communal Reserve spans 247,887 hectares across the provinces of Maynas and Putumayo in northern Peru, encompassing diverse Amazon rainforest ecosystems.

SERNANP established this protected area on October 25, 2012, through Supreme Decree No. 006-2012-MINAM to safeguard the regional biodiversity and natural resources.

Indigenous communities of the Loreto region maintain traditional practices within the reserve while contributing to conservation efforts and sustainable resource management.

Visitors need to obtain permits from SERNANP offices and prepare for varied Amazon weather conditions when planning expeditions to the reserve.

The reserve forms part of a biological corridor connecting multiple protected areas, supporting the movement and survival of numerous Amazon species.
