Pucacuro National Reserve, Protected nature reserve in Loreto Region, Peru
The reserve extends across 637,953 hectares of Amazon rainforest, containing hills, river terraces, seasonally flooded terrain, swamps, and forty oxbow lakes.
The Peruvian government established Pucacuro National Reserve on April 19, 2005, to safeguard the Napo moist forests and its natural resources.
Indigenous communities maintain their traditional practices within the reserve boundaries while collaborating with SERNANP for sustainable resource management.
Visitors can access the reserve through the city of Intuto, where park rangers provide guidance and information about permitted activities.
The reserve contains thirty endemic species and populations of wildlife that have disappeared from other areas of the Amazon rainforest.
