Yaguas National Park

The park extends across 868,000 hectares of dense Amazonian rainforest, containing numerous rivers, wetlands, and varied terrain in northern Peru.

The Peruvian government designated Yaguas as a national park on January 11, 2018, following thirty years of conservation efforts by local communities.

Indigenous groups maintain traditional practices within the park boundaries, applying generations of knowledge to sustain natural resources through specific hunting methods.

Access to the park requires advance coordination with SERNANP, as the remote location and limited infrastructure necessitate guided tours through authorized operators.

The waters within Yaguas National Park contain 550 fish species, representing two-thirds of Peru's freshwater fish diversity in a single protected area.
