Monte Hermoso is a coastal town in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, stretching along the Atlantic shoreline. The sandy beaches run for several kilometers and the water remains shallow over long distances, making it easy to walk or swim.
The area was originally part of the El Recreo estate, acquired in the 19th century by Esteban Dufaur. The town received its official status as an independent municipality during the 1970s.
Sand dunes line the western sections of the town and form a natural boundary between the beaches and the flat inland areas. The promenade along the coast becomes a gathering place for residents and visitors, especially during evening hours.
