San Justo

San Justo is a city serving as the administrative center of La Matanza Partido in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. The city has developed as a commercial hub with shopping areas and civic buildings that serve the local population and surrounding communities.

The city was founded on December 25, 1856, when heirs of Justo Villegas donated land for municipal infrastructure and public buildings. This act established the formal basis for settlement and administrative organization in the area.

The Universidad Nacional de La Matanza, established in 1989, provides educational programs and contributes to regional academic development.

The main commercial district runs along Ignacio Arieta Street, where you will find the San Justo Shopping center and many shops. Most services and stores are within walking distance if you stay in this central area.

Three street names from the original 1856 layout have survived to the present day, while all others have been renamed over the years. These few names connect visitors directly to the city's earliest days.
