San Martín National Institute, History museum in Palermo, Buenos Aires, Argentina
The San Martín National Institute displays military artifacts, personal belongings, and documents relating to Argentina's independence movement inside a replica of San Martín's French residence.
Founded in 1933, the institute commemorates General José de San Martín's role in liberating Argentina, Chile, and Peru from Spanish colonial rule during the early 19th century.
The institute maintains a collection of military uniforms, maps, letters, and portraits that document the transformation of Argentina from a colony to an independent nation.
Visitors can access the museum daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, with free admission for children under twelve and senior citizens, plus guided tours in multiple languages.
The building replicates the exact architecture of San Martín's exile residence in Le Grand-Bourg, France, where he lived between 1834 and 1848.
