Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, Buenos Aires, Eastern Orthodox cathedral in San Telmo, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity is a Russian Orthodox church in Buenos Aires with five distinctive blue onion domes topped with golden stars. The brick building displays traditional Russian architectural details that stand out clearly against the surrounding urban landscape.
Construction started in 1898 following designs from Saint Petersburg and finished in 1901. The project brought Russian religious architecture to South America and reflects the presence of Russian residents in Buenos Aires during that period.
The interior walls feature religious murals that tell stories of sacred figures important to the Orthodox faith. These paintings help create a space where visitors can sense the spiritual traditions that matter to the community.
The building sits in a residential neighborhood and is easiest to reach on foot. Visitors should know that the interior is primarily for worshippers during services, so quiet behavior and respectful observation are important when visiting.
A bronze relief on the front of the building reproduces the entire facade in miniature form, serving as an unusual architectural detail. The entrance door positioned on the left side leads to the altar area, which faces eastward following traditional Orthodox orientation.
