Colegio del Uruguay

This secondary school and national monument was built in 1851 with traditional Argentine architectural features and spacious educational facilities. The campus includes classrooms, administrative areas, and a museum housed within the historic structure.

Governor Justo José de Urquiza established this institution in 1849 as a groundbreaking step away from church-controlled education. It became one of Argentina's first schools to provide free secular learning to its students.

The on-site Historical Museum displays teaching materials and educational documents spanning over a century of Argentine schooling. Visitors can see how classroom practices and student life have evolved through different periods.
