Zoológico de Sáenz Peña

The Zoológico de Sáenz Peña is a large facility housing roughly 2000 animals representing around 210 different species across its grounds. The site also includes a botanical reserve with native plant collections managed as a nature conservation area.

The zoo was founded in 1978 and has developed into a center for protecting and studying the wildlife of the Chaco region. It grew into an important institution for preserving these natural habitats.

The zoo focuses on showcasing the animal and plant life of the Chaco region, allowing visitors to experience local nature directly. You see animals in naturalistic enclosures that reflect this province's ecosystem.

The grounds are expansive, so wear comfortable walking shoes and plan for plenty of time to explore. There are rest areas, grilling spots, and drinking water available at various points throughout the park.

Alongside the animals, there is a separate 20-hectare botanical garden that collects and displays rare native plants. This pairing of zoo and plant garden makes it a complete nature experience, not just a typical animal park.
