History Museum of the North

The History Museum of the North exhibits indigenous artifacts, colonial items, and historical documents across multiple rooms in an 18th-century building.

The museum building dates from 1717 and underwent major renovations between 1789 and 1807, serving as a governmental office until its conversion in 1937.

The collection includes pre-Hispanic stone idols, Inca funeral urns, Portuguese-influenced furniture, and paintings depicting religious figures from colonial times.

Located at Caseros 549, the museum opens Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 to 17:00, with modified hours on weekends and free admission.

The General Güemes room contains the original hat, campaign materials, and gravestone plaque of this northern military leader from Argentina's independence period.
