Jardín Botánico de Santa Cruz de la Sierra

The botanical garden spans 217 hectares and contains two distinct forest types separated by the Guapilo stream of the Piraí River basin.

Professor Noel Kempff Mercado established the garden on September 25, 1985, to preserve plant species from Bolivian aquatic ecosystems and Santa Cruz region.

The garden serves as a member of the Latin American and Caribbean Botanical Gardens Association, contributing to international conservation efforts.

Visitors can explore 6 kilometers of interpretive trails, use barbecue facilities, and access an 80-seat auditorium for educational programs.

The garden maintains over 500 plant species and provides habitat for 12 mammal species and 200 bird species within its subtropical and Chaco forest areas.
