Costa Rica is a municipality in central-western Brazil located in Mato Grosso do Sul at an elevation of about 578 meters. The town serves as a regional hub with connections to neighboring areas throughout the state.
The settlement began in 1926 when José Ferreira da Costa established the Imbirussú farm, laying the foundation for what would become the town. The area received formal municipal status in 1980.
The municipality holds annual events including Costa Folia festival, Moto Fest Sucuriu, and Santo Antonio celebrations throughout different seasons.
The municipality connects to neighboring states through multiple highways and has a paved airport for regional travel. Road connections make it straightforward to reach the area and travel to surrounding regions.
A significant portion of the municipality is protected by the Nascentes do Rio Taquari State Park, which preserves natural water sources and local ecosystems. This park covers a substantial part of the land and makes the region an important conservation area.
