Vacaria, Agricultural municipality in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
Vacaria extends across 2,123 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 894 meters in northeastern Rio Grande do Sul state.
The region developed from a 16th-century Jesuit settlement where missionaries introduced livestock into an area known as Baqueria de los Piñales.
The International Crioulo Rodeo displays regional traditions through horse competitions, traditional music performances, and local food presentations.
The municipality maintains strong agricultural production, leading Rio Grande do Sul in apple cultivation and generating substantial fruit exports.
During the winter of 1879, Vacaria recorded Brazil's most intense blizzard with snow accumulation reaching 2 meters in urban areas.
