Nova Trento, Religious municipality in Santa Catarina, Brazil
Nova Trento extends across 402 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 30 meters in the Greater Florianópolis mesoregion of Santa Catarina.
The settlement originated in 1875 when Italian immigrants from the Trento region established their presence, leading to its official municipality status in 1892.
The municipality maintains strong Italian traditions through its local cuisine, religious celebrations, and the annual Feast of Our Lady of Caravaggio.
The town accommodates 14,782 residents and contains several religious sites, including the Sanctuary of Mother Paulina, which receives numerous visitors throughout the year.
Nova Trento incorporates part of the Canela Preta Biological Reserve, a protected natural area spanning 1,899 hectares of preserved Brazilian ecosystem.
