Campos Novos

The municipality spans across 1,659 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 905 meters in southern Brazil, featuring extensive farming areas.

The territory, initially inhabited by Kaingang indigenous people, transformed into a settlement in 1881 with the arrival of European colonizers and railway development.

The population combines influences from Italian, German, Portuguese, and Polish descendants, reflected in local traditions and community practices.

Located at the intersection of highways BR-470 and BR-282, Campos Novos connects major cities while maintaining its position as Santa Catarina's primary grain producer.

The municipality generates substantial agricultural output through cooperative farming systems and contains the highest dam in western Santa Catarina.
