Museu Egípcio e Rosacruz, Egyptian and Rosicrucian Museum in Bacacheri, Brazil
Museu Egípcio e Rosacruz is a museum in Curitiba housing over 700 Egyptian artifacts, including replicas from various dynasties and historical periods. The collection is displayed across multiple exhibition halls and outdoor spaces covering different aspects of ancient Egypt.
The museum was established on October 17, 1990, but originated from a collection first displayed at the Oriental Egyptian Rose Cross Museum in San Jose, California in 1928. This long connection shows how the collection was maintained and developed over several decades.
The exhibition 'Medw Netjer - Divine Words' displays ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic writing and shows how Egyptians documented their understanding of the world through written symbols. Visitors can observe this writing system on everyday objects and religious artifacts throughout the galleries.
The site offers three separate tour options to explore: one for Egyptian exhibitions, one for the Luxor Complex, and one for Tutankhamun displays. Visitors should plan enough time to see all areas, especially the outdoor spaces when the weather is good.
The museum houses Tothmea, an authentic mummy of an 18th dynasty Egyptian singer, a rare find in South America. This genuine artifact is one of only two real Egyptian mummies in the entire country.
