Indústrias Reunidas Fábricas Matarazzo, Industrial heritage site in Marília, Brazil
Indústrias Reunidas Fábricas Matarazzo is a former factory complex with several production buildings for ceramics, textiles and food processing in Marília. The structures spread across a wide site in the central part of the city and are linked by internal pathways.
Francesco Matarazzo founded the enterprise in 1891 and built it over several decades into one of the largest industrial conglomerates in Latin America. The factory in Marília opened during the first half of the 20th century as part of this growing network.
The factory complex earned CONDEPHAAT Good Class status in 1992, marking its role in São Paulo state's industrial development during the 20th century.
The site stands at R. Castro Alves 276 in the central area of Marília and can be reached via the surrounding streets. The buildings are mostly empty and generally not open for visitors.
The conglomerate employed more than 30,000 workers across São Paulo state during the 1940s and operated over 350 companies in different industries. The facility in Marília was connected to its own railway network that allowed distribution of products across the region.
