Oficina Cultural Oswald de Andrade, Educational arts center in Luz, Brazil
The Oficina Cultural Oswald de Andrade is a neoclassical building in the Luz neighborhood featuring brick walls, wooden upper floors, and French tile roofing arranged around an internal courtyard. The structure spans multiple wings that surround this central open space.
The building was constructed in 1905 and initially served as the São Paulo School of Pharmacy. It later became home to the São Paulo State School of Music before converting to its current cultural purpose.
The center provides courses and workshops in visual arts, cinema, dance, design, photography, comics, literature, music, radio, theater, and video production.
The center is located on Rua Três Rios and accessible on weekdays when you have time for activities. Opening hours differ between weekdays and weekends.
The building underwent an expansion in 1937 when an additional floor was added to the wings surrounding the courtyard. This addition changed the proportions of the central open space and created more usable area for growing programming needs.
