Canecão was a concert hall and indoor arena in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, inaugurated in 1967 to a design by the young architect José Vasquez Ponte. It could work either as a dance floor or as a concert hall seating 2,000 people. The building was demolished in 2024, and a new multipurpose venue for 1,500 to 6,000 people is planned to reopen on the site in 2026.

The hall opened in 1967 and operated for over four decades as an active entertainment venue before closing in 2010 due to legal disputes. Its long years of operation made it a stable fixture in Rio's music and events landscape.

The name comes from the word caneca (mug), a nod to the large brewery first planned for the site. Maysa's 1969 season, Canecão Apresenta Maysa, drew the artistic world there and made the hall a leading Rio stage. In 2016 the Ocupa Canecão movement camped in the main hall, and Chico Buarque opened the occupation singing "Apesar de você".

The old building was demolished in 2024, so there is nothing to visit at the Botafogo site for now. The consortium Bonus Klefer won the 30-year concession in February 2023 and plans a multi-purpose venue for 1,500 to 6,000 people, with reopening expected in 2026. The name "Canecão" is the augmentative of caneca (mug): the building was first conceived as a large brewery before becoming a concert hall in 1967, in a project by the young architect José Vasquez Ponte. The property belongs to the federal government and was granted to UFRJ.
