Museu Casa de Rui Barbosa

Museu Casa de Rui Barbosa is a neoclassical residence that displays the private collections of a Brazilian legal scholar and politician. The building contains over 20,000 books, manuscripts, furniture, and personal objects from the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The state acquired the house in 1924, shortly after the owner's death, and opened it to the public in 1930 as Brazil's first house museum. This transformation turned a private residence into a place for sharing historical knowledge.
