Francisco Serrador Building

The Francisco Serrador Building is a 23-story Art Deco structure in downtown Rio de Janeiro featuring copper panels and marble details throughout its entrance hall. The construction displays the hallmarks of the style with refined materials and a vertical composition typical of the period.

The building was completed in 1944 as one of Latin America's largest hotels of its time. Over the following decades, it changed hands several times and gradually transformed into office and administrative spaces.

The building once housed the Night and Day nightclub in the 1960s, a venue that attracted the city's political and artistic circles with its fashionable music scene. The space represented the modern and sophisticated side of Rio's nightlife at that time.

The building is easily accessed from Cinelândia Square, which is well connected by public transportation. Visitors should note that the structure now serves as an administrative headquarters, so some interior areas may have restricted access.

The building is protected as a historic landmark for its original architectural features, particularly its distinctive rooftop design from its construction year. These preserved elements represent an important part of Rio's downtown building heritage.
