Santa Rosa de Viterbo is a municipality in São Paulo State located in the Southeast region of Brazil. The town sits at an elevation of 675 meters and encompasses both rural and developed areas where residents and visitors move through daily life.
The settlement began in 1883 when the Mogiana Railway arrived in the area, establishing a station and chapel. The locality was officially incorporated as a municipality in 1910, marking its recognition as an administrative center.
The municipality includes 69 percent white inhabitants, 22.9 percent mixed-race, and 6.9 percent black residents according to the 2010 demographic census data.
The municipal office is located on Rua 7 de Setembro for administrative services and information. The town is easily explored by following its main streets and connecting roads through the residential and commercial areas.
From 1944 to 1948, the municipality was officially called Icaturama before reverting to its original name. This temporary change in identity remains an interesting detail in the town's story.
