Bom Despacho is a municipal center in central Minas Gerais, located about 156 kilometers from Belo Horizonte at an elevation of 768 meters. The territory covers approximately 1,200 square kilometers and is home to around 51,000 people.
Settlement began in 1770 with the construction of Cruz do Monte Church in the area. The territory became an independent municipality in 1912 after separating from Santo Antonio do Monte.
German settlers arrived in the 1920s and shaped farming practices that remain visible in the agricultural landscape today. Their colonies established traditions that continue to influence how the land is worked and managed.
