Trajano de Morais

Trajano de Morais is a mountain municipality in northern Rio de Janeiro featuring elevated terrain and a highland landscape. Small settlements are scattered throughout the rolling countryside, interspersed with rural areas and natural surroundings.

The municipality developed from colonial-era farms into a rural administrative area in the mountain region. Buildings from the imperial period remain scattered across the landscape, showing architectural styles from that time.

The Nilo Peçanha central square serves as the main gathering place where locals meet regularly and celebrate throughout the year. Daily life and community events naturally unfold in this public space.

The climate here remains mild year-round, with temperatures ranging between 10 and 22 degrees Celsius, making visits comfortable throughout the year. The elevation brings cooler air, and drier months offer the best conditions for exploring.

The mountainous landscape here provides excellent conditions for paragliding and aerial sports, making the region popular among flight enthusiasts. The elevation and wind patterns regularly draw athletes from larger cities.
