Jardín Botánico

Jardín Botánico is a botanical garden located in the Miraflores district of La Paz that spans a large area and houses an extensive collection of plant species from across the country. The grounds include greenhouses, open growing areas, and different zones that recreate the various natural habitats found in Bolivia.

The garden was founded in the middle of the 18th century as a result of efforts by the university to teach ecology and botany in a practical way. Since its establishment, it has served as a place for scientific research and education about the country's plant life.

The garden serves as a place where visitors can experience and learn about the plant diversity found across Bolivia. Its different sections reflect how plants grow in various regions and how people in the country use them in daily life.

The garden is open during weekdays and weekends and offers pathways that are easy to walk through the different areas. It is good to wear comfortable shoes and bring sun protection or rain gear depending on the weather.

The garden displays living floral emblems of La Paz and Bolivia made up from thousands of seedlings. These special living artworks can only be seen here and make for memorable photographs.
