Itacaré

Located 70 kilometers north of Ilhéus, Itacaré extends along the Atlantic Ocean with white sand beaches and green tropical forests.

The settlement originated in 1732 as Vila de São Miguel da Barra do Rio de Contas, established by Jesuits for converting Pataxós and Tupiniquins tribes.

The population displays a mixture of Amerindian, African, and European influences, reflected through capoeira performances and regional festivals throughout the year.

The municipality contains numerous hotels, restaurants, adventure sports facilities, and essential services spread across eight distinct neighborhoods.

The municipal territory encompasses 41 percent of Serra do Conduru State Park and includes thirteen beaches with specific conditions for surfing.
