Cabo Branco Lighthouse

Cabo Branco Lighthouse is an 18-meter concrete tower rising from cliffs in João Pessoa with three wing-like projections extending from its body. The structure wears white paint with a distinctive black horizontal stripe and sits roughly 800 meters north of Ponta do Seixas.

Built in 1972 under President Emilio Medici, this structure emerged during a period of national infrastructure development. It was designed to serve as a distinctive marker for the easternmost coastal region of South America.

The structure's shape recalls a sisal plant, honoring the agricultural roots of Paraiba's economy. This design choice reflects how deeply the region's identity connects to its farming past.

The site sits on a cliff edge with ocean views and is readily accessible from central João Pessoa. The surroundings offer paved paths and free access to view and photograph the structure from the outside.

The structure operates without any active light system, functioning purely as a visual navigation marker for passing vessels. Its unusual three-winged design stands alone worldwide, making it a one-of-a-kind coastal landmark.
