Harmony Flats Nature Reserve, Nature reserve in Western Cape, South Africa
Harmony Flats Nature Reserve spans 9 hectares between Gordon's Bay and Strand, containing over 220 plant species within its protected boundaries.
The nature reserve received official protection status in 1986 to create a sanctuary for the geometric tortoise population in the Western Cape region.
Environmental education programs led by the Harmony Flats Working Group connect local communities with conservation efforts through interpretive nature walks.
The reserve opens daily from 07:30 to 16:00, offering free entrance to visitors who want to explore its walking trails and observe native flora.
This protected area preserves the Lourensford alluvium fynbos vegetation, with less than 7 percent of this plant type remaining worldwide.
