Msikaba Bridge

The Msikaba Bridge is a cable-stayed crossing that spans a deep valley near Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape. The structure uses two concrete towers to suspend the roadway high above the landscape below.

Work on the crossing began in 2019 as a joint effort between local and international construction firms. Completion was scheduled to improve transportation connections along a major coastal route.

The bridge construction employed 70 percent of its workforce from nearby communities, creating substantial employment opportunities in the Eastern Cape region.

This crossing lies on the main N2 highway between two important coastal cities. Visitors can experience it while driving or view it from nearby vantage points along the roadside.

The roadway sits at a dramatic height above the valley floor, making this one of the tallest bridge decks on the continent. This elevation creates a distinctive driving experience for those crossing it.
