Crocodile Bridge, Rest camp near Crocodile River in Kruger National Park, South Africa
Crocodile Bridge is a rest camp with 18 tent and caravan sites on the northern bank of the Crocodile River in Kruger National Park. The sites sit directly above the water, giving views across the river and its wildlife.
The site began in the late 1800s as one of four ranger posts when the Sabie Reserve was established, before it became Kruger National Park. This early outpost served as a lookout point for monitoring the area.
The area near Hippo Pool features San rock paintings on sandstone, revealing how early people used this riverside landscape. These artistic traces show the long human presence connected to the river.
The camp has shared facilities including 24-hour hot water and power points at each site for charging and cooking. You can use the communal braai grills for outdoor meals, which are rotated among guests.
The region, called the Southern Circle, is home to several lion prides that each use their own hunting methods. The area also holds a large population of rhinoceros that draws researchers and observers.
