Matusadona National Park

The Matusadona National Park spans 1,407 square kilometers of protected land, featuring diverse landscapes from lake shores to mountainous terrain along Lake Kariba.

The formation of Lake Kariba in the 1950s through the construction of Kariba Dam led to the establishment of Matusadona National Park in 1975.

Local guides lead educational safaris through the park, sharing their knowledge about tracking techniques and the behavior patterns of resident wildlife species.

Visitors can access the park through boat transfers or small aircraft flights, with accommodations available in safari camps and lodges along the shoreline.

The park contains multiple ecosystems where elephants, lions, and buffalo roam freely, while hippos and crocodiles inhabit the waters of Lake Kariba.
