Maison Adam de Villiers

The Maison Adam de Villiers is a residence in Saint-Pierre built with a square floor plan and stone masonry walls. Its Mansard roof is covered with wooden shingles in the traditional manner.

The house was built between 1770 and 1780 by Louis Antoine Nairac, a royal official. It ranks among the earliest structures in Saint-Pierre from that era.

The symmetrical facade with dressed basalt frames shows how French builders brought their methods to Reunion Island. The architectural style blends European forms with local materials and craftsmanship of the Indian Ocean region.

The building is under heritage protection and remains in private ownership. Visitors can view the exterior but should respect the property boundaries.

The curved lintels above the doors and windows blend European and local building crafts. These curved elements were common in early island construction during the 18th century.
