Mount Kilimanjaro, Mountain in Tanzania
Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain in the world.
It was first summited by Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller in 1889.
The mountain is a part of the Kilimanjaro National Park and is a major climbing destination.
The mountain has been the subject of many scientific studies because of its shrinking glaciers and disappearing ice fields.
Despite its height, Mount Kilimanjaro can be climbed by any physically fit person, no mountaineering equipment necessary.
