Jane National Park, Nature reserve in Shire of Manjimup, Australia.
Jane National Park is a nature reserve in south-western Western Australia covering about 6,800 hectares. It consists mainly of old-growth forest and natural landscapes with minimal human development.
This park was officially declared in December 2004 as part of a broader protection effort that created 19 reserves at the same time. The land had earlier been identified as a forested area worth protecting before receiving this official status.
This land connects to the Bibbulman people, who lived here and maintained their relationship with the country over many generations. That deep connection remains woven into the place today.
The Bibbulmun Track, a popular hiking route, runs through this park and offers walking opportunities for different abilities. Expect minimal facilities as the park is kept in a natural state without extensive development.
The name comes from John D'Espessis, a conservationist who named the area after his daughter Jane in 1946. This personal touch shows how individual dedication to nature can lead to lasting protection efforts.
