Point Peron K Battery, World War II artillery battery in Cape Peron, Western Australia.
Point Peron K Battery is a World War II defensive installation at Cape Peron in Western Australia. The complex features two gun emplacements, an observation post bunker, a command bunker, and multiple ammunition storage buildings across the headland.
The battery was built in 1943 as part of the Fremantle Fortress defense line and equipped with two 155mm guns. It served as a southern position protecting shipping approaching from that direction along the coast.
The site reflects military engineering practices of the 1940s through its functional design and wartime construction methods. Visitors can observe the craftsmanship and practical solutions that soldiers needed in their daily work.
You can explore the preserved observation post and northern gun position using marked pathways. Other areas remain closed for safety reasons and should not be entered.
The battery marks the southernmost point of the Fremantle Fortress system and was thus a critical defensive location. The guns had a firing range of around 18 kilometers across the sound.
