Canggu

Canggu is a coastal area in North Kuta located along Bali's southern shore, featuring black sand beaches and rice fields that define the landscape. The terrain varies with residential neighborhoods interspersed among agricultural patches and beach access points.

The area changed from a modest farming and fishing settlement into a recognized tourist destination during the early 2010s. This rapid shift shaped the present-day character and the layering of traditional and contemporary elements throughout.

The village preserves Balinese traditions through temples scattered across the area, creating a visible blend of spiritual spaces among contemporary buildings. You encounter this mix of the old and new as you walk through neighborhoods and witness daily life around these sacred sites.

Visitors can rent scooters for getting around, though the expanding street network experiences regular traffic during busy hours. Travel early in the morning or use quieter side roads to avoid congestion.

The area offers active surf breaks, rice terraces, and beach clubs that create different environments within walking distance. This variety lets visitors move between natural landscapes and modern leisure spots in a short time.
