Pulo Gadung, Administrative district in East Jakarta, Indonesia
Pulo Gadung is an administrative district in East Jakarta that spans seven villages: Kayu Putih, Jati, Rawamangun, Pisangan Timur, Jatinegara Kaum, Cipinang, and Pulo Gadung. The area combines residential neighborhoods with two major sports facilities: a velodrome and an equestrian park.
The district grew from agricultural farmland into an urban center during the late 20th century as infrastructure and housing developments transformed the landscape. This shift reshaped how the area looked and functioned for its growing population.
The seven villages within the district each have community centers where neighbors gather for local festivals and ceremonies throughout the year. These regular meetings shape how people live together and connect with one another.
The district connects to the rest of Jakarta through two railway stations at Cipinang and Klender, as well as the Pulo Gadung Terminal. You can use these transport hubs to reach central Jakarta or other parts of the city.
The district is home to the Jakarta International Velodrome and Jakarta International Equestrian Park, where national and regional sports competitions take place. These specialized venues attract athletes and spectators from across the region.
