Prambanan is a 9th-century Hindu temple compound dedicated to the Trimurti, the expression of God as the Creator (Brahma), the Preserver (Vishnu) and the Destroyer (Shiva).
The temple was built during the reign of the Sanjaya dynasty in the Kingdom of Mataram.
Prambanan is an important cultural symbol of the harmonious coexistence of Hinduism and Buddhism in Indonesia.
The temple complex is open for tourists and it's best visited at sunrise or sunset.
