Tanjung Kelayang

Tanjung Kelayang is a beach in Belitung known for its granite rock formations scattered along the sandy shore. Coconut trees line the coast, and the large boulders create natural features that define the landscape from end to end.

This beach gained wide attention after appearing in the 2008 film adaptation of the Indonesian novel Laskar Pelangi, which told stories about local students and education. The film brought visitors to the area and made the location known beyond its immediate region.

Local restaurants by the shore serve traditional Belitung dishes like sauteed water spinach, fish soup, and regional lime drinks with ice. The way people gather here to eat shows how the coast shapes daily meals and social customs for the community.

The beach is reachable within about 30 minutes by car from the nearest airport, making it easy to get to. Overnight accommodation like cottages is available for visitors who want to stay longer.

One of the granite formations here resembles a flying bird and locals call it Batu Garuda, named after the legendary eagle in Indonesian traditions. This natural landmark is a striking feature that many visitors notice right away.
