Al-Karomah Great Mosque

Located on Ahmad Yani Street, Al-Karomah Grand Mosque stands as a principal religious structure in Martapura, connecting Eastern Kalimantan to Banjarmasin city.

The mosque construction began in 1863 after a fire in Pasayangan village, initially known as Martapura Jami Mosque, established by local leaders HM Nasir and HM Taher.

The mosque architecture incorporates design elements from Demak Mosque, created by Sunan Kalijaga, featuring Middle Eastern and Dutch architectural influences in its current form.

The religious complex accommodates 21,000 worshippers and serves as a central location for major religious events and community activities in South Kalimantan.

The original Ulin wooden pillars from the first construction remain preserved within the structure, maintaining historical elements despite multiple renovations since 1897.
