Built in 1898 after the Royal Exchange hotel burned down, the Gaiety Theatre became the largest concert hall in Australia with seating for over 1000 patrons.
The theatre regularly hosted touring shows from Melbourne by the J.C. Williamson company and performances by the All Male Welsh Choir for local miners.
Visitors can explore the Gaiety Theatre by purchasing admission tickets to the West Coast Pioneers Museum Complex, which includes access to the historical building.
The theatre screens daily sessions of silent films, including segments from The Story of the Kelly Gang, recognized as the first feature film shown there in 1907.
