Montezuma Falls, Waterfall in Tasmania, Australia
Montezuma Falls descends 104 meters through dense rainforest terrain, making it the highest permanent single-drop waterfall in Tasmania.
The trail follows the North East Dundas Tramway path from the 1890s, which transported mining resources between Zeehan and Williamsford.
The waterfall received its name from the Montezuma Silver Mining Company that operated in the region during the late nineteenth century.
The return journey spans 11.5 kilometers on a Grade 2 walking track through forest, requiring approximately three hours to complete.
A suspension bridge crosses Montezuma Creek near the falls, providing visitors with an elevated perspective of the cascading water.
