Australian Lutheran College, Lutheran seminary and heritage site in North Adelaide, South Australia
Australian Lutheran College is a theological training institution located at the intersection of Ward and Jeffcott Streets in North Adelaide. The campus provides facilities for studying theology and religious education, supported by an extensive library holding tens of thousands of books and research materials.
The site began as North Adelaide Grammar School before its conversion to Immanuel College in 1923. It went through several name changes over the decades, eventually becoming Luther Seminary before adopting its current name in 2004.
The college's name reflects its founding mission to serve Lutheran communities across the nation, and visitors can see how the grounds bring together study spaces designed for theological training and spiritual formation.
The library is open to students and researchers throughout the academic year except during the December-January break. The buildings are accessible on foot and situated in a central location within North Adelaide.
The campus holds a printed Luther Bible from 1551 in its collection of rare theological documents. These historical pieces reveal the institution's long connection to Protestant Reformation traditions.
