Fairy Park, Amusement park in Anakie, Australia
Fairy Park is an amusement park located west of Melbourne on a granite outcrop, featuring 22 animated scenes that depict European fairy tales. Each scene is crafted with handmade figures and details designed to bring familiar stories like Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Riding Hood to life.
German immigrant Peter Mayer founded the park in December 1959, creating Australia's first themed attraction of its kind. The site grew over the decades and remained a family destination that drew generations of visitors.
The park tells European fairy tales such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Brothers Grimm stories through colorful, handcrafted figures and scenes. Most visitors pause at the illuminated displays and recognize familiar characters from their childhood.
The grounds offer picnic areas, barbecue stations, and a kiosk where you can buy refreshments and snacks, as well as a gift shop. Ye Old Shelter provides seating for about 80 people and is helpful during sudden rain or extreme heat.
From Elephant Rock at the top of Mount Anakie, visitors can enjoy 360-degree views and spot native wildlife such as koalas. This elevated position offers both spectacular views and rare opportunities to observe animals in their natural setting within the park.
